Basescu to move out of Villa Lac 3 when Primaverii residence gets revamped

Former President Traian Basescu will move out from the Villa Lac 3 after the restoration works at the villa which was recently assigned by the Government to be the former president’s residence will be completed.

Temporarily, until works will be completed, the former president will continue to use the Villa Lac 3, with the consent of the State Protocol Administration (RA-APPS) that owns the building.

By law, Traian Basescu was supposed to leave Villa Lac 3 residence within 60 days since the end of the presidential term, respectively on February 21.

Two weeks ago, the government decided that the RA-APPS villa in Primaverii neighborhood where Mioara Roman, the ex-wife of Romania’s former and first PM after 1989 Revolution Petre Roman, lived until this year, to be offered to the former President Traian Basescu to use it as an official residence.

However, the building requires repairs and renovations, which are still in execution.

The seven room mansion, that also has two service rooms, has a 366 sqm area, out of which a 126 sqm ground floor and a 135 sqm first floor. It also has a yard area of 1.334 sqm. The monthly rent charged to date the former tenant, Mioara Roman, amounted to EUR 6,205.
