BILD: Russia could attack Europe next winter. Among Putin’s targets is Romania

European intelligence sources, quoted by German daily BILD, suggest that Russia could launch an attack on Europe in the winter of 2024-2025, depending on this year’s US presidential election. A warning also comes from Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who says that Russia may attack Europe in a few years if European Union countries do not learn from the restructuring of the Russian economy along military lines and strengthen their defense industry capabilities.

European intelligence suggests that Russia could launch an attack on Europe in the winter of 2024-2025 if the United States finds itself “without a leader” following the 2024 US presidential election, German tabloid Bild reported, citing intelligence sources European, according to The Kyiv Independent. They claim that a potential Russian strike on Europe could take place during the presidential transition period, given that President Joe Biden will not be re-elected.

This transition period spans three months, from the US presidential election in November 2024 to the subsequent inauguration in January 2025. According to the intelligence source, Russia could aim to launch an attack on Europe during this transition, especially if the leading candidate Republican, former President Donald Trump, will be re-elected. During his presidential campaign, former President Donald Trump repeatedly criticized the level of aid that President Joe Biden’s administration was providing to Kiev.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously warned that the outcome of the upcoming US presidential election in 2024 may “very strongly” influence the course of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

German think tank DGAP has issued early warnings to Western nations, suggesting that Russia could launch a direct attack on NATO in “just six to 10 years”. While Poland’s national security agency has warned that Russia could attack NATO in less than 36 months.

Polish officials have previously suggested that Russia could target a member of the NATO alliance in Eastern Europe, including countries such as Poland, Estonia, Romania and Lithuania.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Wednesday that protecting airspace and strengthening NATO’s eastern flank was an “absolute priority” today. We want to mobilize the entire European Union, and for this we use all possible diplomatic and persuasive means, so that they understand that without a radical increase in armament efforts, we will be left far behind,” explained Donald Tusk.

“This will mean one thing: Europe exposes itself to a direct attack by Russia in the next few years,” Tusk stressed, adding that no one can doubt that “in this strategic perspective, Europe is the target of Russian aggression, and this will happen when Russia’s superiority in military capabilities will be evident.”
