Călin Georgescu went to his polling station in Mogoşoaia on Sunday morning, where he was greeted by supporters. He is demanding that the ballot boxes be opened because “the ballots are printed” and “Romanians want to vote,” despite the CCR’s cancellation of the presidential election.
Dozens of Georgescu’s supporters gathered outside the polling station on Sunday. He announced on Saturday evening that he would “be at the polling station in Mogoşoaia tomorrow (at 8:00 a.m.) and wait to be able to exercise his right to vote.”
“I came with flowers and a prayer,” says the candidate who arrived at the scene. “Today is Constitution Day and there is nothing constitutional in Romania anymore. I’m not asking anyone to do anything, it’s simply a moment of silence. Today was supposed to be the second round of the presidential elections, this vote was canceled, our very freedom is being canceled,” he adds.
“I hope we don’t end up in the spring, and that this second round will be as soon as possible, very soon as possible. They don’t have to start from scratch. There was already a first round, it was agreed, approved, confirmed. They simply have to go back and admit that what the Constitutional Court did is an abuse and a crime,” said Călin Georgescu.
“They had information that I have over 80% in the diaspora. That’s why they stopped the second round of voting. NATO is a defensive organization. It’s good that we are in NATO, as long as it remains a defensive organization. I said that my strategy is the strategy of peace,” he added.
“Gentlemen, open the polling stations, the ballots are printed, Romanians want to vote,” said the radical right-wing candidate in the first round of the presidential election, which was annulled by a decision of the Constitutional Court.
Georgescu was asked about the SRI report that spoke of a pre-planned operation in favor of the radical right candidate. “You are amazed by the power of the Romanian people,” he replied.
Asked if he knew Bogdan Peșchir, who the SRI claims financed Călin Georgescu’s TikTok campaign with hundreds of thousands of euros, Călin Georgescu said: “I don’t know who Bogdan Peșchir is. I don’t know him.”
“Please don’t insinuate things that are not covered, okay? I don’t know him.”
“Do you know what the problem is? You fail to realize that the people have rights, not the state. Don’t come up with words that are not covered. They don’t exist,” Georgescu said when journalists insisted on the information provided by the SRI.
After several questions from journalists present in front of the polling station, including “Why did you bring people to the streets? How will you make peace in Ukraine? Why do you consider Putin a patriot?”, Georgescu said: “Did you pay attention to what I said? Why are you threatening? You don’t even know what you’re saying! I’m asking questions!”
From Comedy to Tragedy then back to comedy that leads to a Travesty of Democracy. Do the Romanians even know what Democracy is? If they wand the EU then they have to understand what its all about.
Democracy
A system of government where power is vested in the people, either directly or through elected representatives.
This is exactly what the people of Romania are asking for Panagiotis Spyridis and I dont know what definition of Democracy u are using. It seems like the definition u want is for the people of Romania to bow to the EU and be obedient servants instead of being treated with the same respect as the other EU countries. The people of Romania are only wanting equal treatment and the right to decide… not do what others demand of them
