The Supreme Defence Council has appointed a new director at the helm of the Special Telecommunications Service (STS) on Tuesday. The new STS director is general major Ionel Sorinel Vasilca.
Ionel Vasilca has graduated the military high school, then the Military Technical Academy. He has worked as officer engineer within STS all through his activity. Vasilca has been technical deputy of the STS up to now, according to the Presidential Administration.
President Klaus Iohannis signed last Wednesday the decree to put in reserve the head of the Special Telecommunications Service (STS), General Marcel Opris.
According to a statement from the Presidential Administration, the decision was made at the request of the STS chief.
Marcel Opris was the director of the Special Telecommunications Service for 12 years.
From 1982 to 1997 he held the leadership and execution positions with the MoD, and then worked for STS.
At the same time, President Klaus Iohannis also signed the decree of putting in reserve one of the two STS deputy directors, Major General Ioan Balaure, the presidential communiqué reads.
