Defence Minister Adrian Tutuianu has characterized on Saturday the reaction of Russian deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin as “absolutely inappropriate” after Romania denied his plane the permission to enter its airspace.
Asked how he deems the grave reaction of the Russian official, Tutuianu declared: “Absolutely inappropriate, to put it mildly”.
The Minister of National Defence added that he has followed the statements of the Russian ambassador to Romania, “who attempts to justify some types of actions they promote in the area.”
The Minister also mentioned that the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs can give an appropriate answer in this matter, and he can speak from the perspective of national defence.
“I will tell you today what I said in our previous meetings – the security situation in the Black Sea region forces us to consolidate the Eastern Flank of the Alliance, the make the right acquisitions to equip the Romanian Army,” the Minister of Defence explained.
Following the retorts from the Russia official, the Romanian charge d’affaires in Moscow, Viorel Cojocaru was summoned by the Russian Foreign Ministry for explanations.
On the other hand, Moldovan President Igor Dodon has accused Bucharest and the pro-western forces in Chisinau of looking for war.
Russian Deputy PM vows to find out who banned his plane from entering Romania
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said Saturday that Russia’s response to Romania’s move to ban a Russian plane with him on board from entering the country’s airspace would be “appropriate and very targeted,” sputniknews.com reports.
“We will accurately identify who was behind these decisions in Chisinau, Bucharest, Budapest, Brussels… Our sanctions will be appropriate and very targeted,” Rogozin told the Rossiya 24 broadcaster.
Romanian authorities have prevented a plane carrying Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, en route to Chisinau, from flying over the county’s territory on Friday.
The Russian official later said on Twitter that the Romanian authorities had endangered the lives of those on board of the plane. “Just wait for the response,” he added. According to deschide.md, Rogozin posted a message on his Twitter account: “Romanian authorities have put in danger the passengers if the S7 flight, women and children. The fuel was enough only to reach Minsk. Just wait for a response, you bastards.”
According to Romanian Foreign Ministry representatives, Romania did not agree for the plane having onboard Russian Deputy PM Dmitry Rogozin to go through its airspace because the Russia official is banned from entering of flying over EU countries, according to the sanctions adopted by Brussels.
