Diaspora in Madrid waited for PM Viorica Dăncilă protesting. Romanian premier makes new blunder

Romanians in Spain are protesting against Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă, who is paying a two-day visit to Spain, where she is to meet Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and King Felipe VI. A group of protesters was present on Thursday near Zarzuela Palace in Madrid.

Mrs. Dăncilă, we are waiting for you with open arms!!!” is the message posted by a Romanian on the Facebook page of “European Diaspora”.

The images posted on Facebook on Thursday show a group of Romanians with placards written in Spanish and Romanian, near the Zarzuela Palace, where Dăncilă is to be received in audience by King Felipe VI.

Also, the Romanians in Spain have initiated and signed a petition and then have sent a letter to the Spanish Royal House, informing who Viorica Dăncilă really is, in the context of the rally on August 10, stiridiriaspora.ro reads.

A group of Romanians in Cordoba has taken stand against the reaction of the Romanian Government on the rally in Victoriei Square, the diariocordoba.com daily reports.

They have sent an open letter to the Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez, joining the initiative to call on the socialist leaders of other European countries to use their influence to exclude PSD from the Party of European Socialists (PES).

For this, they gathered more than 75,000 signatures on the change.org website, out of the 100,000 they had as target.

At 13.0h0 (14.00h, Romania time), Viorica Dăncilă met her counterpart Pedro Sanchez at the Moncloa Palace, at 17.30h (18.30h, Romania time), was welcomed in audience by King Felipe VI at Zarzuela Palace.

During the meeting with her Spanish counterpart, PM Dancila made a new blunder during the moment when the two officials had to sign several memorandums. Dancila sat down on the chair intended for Pedor Sanches, according to footage broadcast by Realitatea Tv.

Although the awkward moment has been captured by the cameras, it was not included in the video footage released on the official websites of the two Governments.

According to a press release, the two prime ministers have hailed “the excellent cooperation in the economic field, which is on a positive trend both on the commercial exchanges, which mounted around EUR 4 billion, and also on the volume of the Spanish investments in Romania. The evolution of the bilateral commercial exchanges confirms an upward economic relation”.

While underlining that Romania “has a stable and attractive business environment”, PM Dancila “voiced appreciation for the Spanish investments in Romania, particularly in the field of renewable energy, constructions and real estate and encouraged the Spanish companies to take part in the public tenders held by the Romanian authorities for the projects financed through the operational programmes”.

The press release also mentioned that the talks have confirmed the interest of both states to further develop ” a privileged relation” and to organize the first joint government sitting to identify new sectorial cooperation opportunities.

The Romanian side also voiced interest in benefiting of the Spanish expertise in modernizing the public administration.
