Social-democrat Chairman Liviu Dragnea has said that PSD and ALDE senators, members of the defence committee, who missed the sitting expected to debate the draft law on the acquisition of Patriot missiles, attended another event and that the draft law will be approved on Monday by the Senate.
Dragnea denied the PNL and USR accusations that the governing parties are trying to delay the acquisition of Patriot missiles, ziare.com reports.
“I’ve seen that I and Mr. Tariceanu have blocked the Patriot. (…) Most of the senators of the defence committee attended an event, upon the invitation from an important institution,” Dragnea said.
The PSD Chairman said the draft bill will be discussed on Monday by the defence committee so that the bill will be on the agenda of the Senate plenum Monday afternoon.
“The vote will take place on Monday and on Tuesday the bill will reach the Chamber of Deputies,” Dragnea said.
USR and PNL said on Tuesday that PSD and ALDE are trying to obstruct the acquisition of the Patriot missiles, as the senators of the two parties missed the Senate defence committee sitting which had on the agenda the draft bill on this acquisition.
At the time, the chairman of the Senate defence committee, liberal Iulian Dumitrescu, said that the absence of the PSD and ALDE senators has led to blocking the draft bill for another week.
