The candidate of the self-proclaimed sovereignist movement, whether it be George Simion or Anamaria Gavrilă, would win the first round of the presidential elections, according to data from an opinion poll conducted between March 13-15, 2025 by the AtlasIntel institute and obtained by Hotnews. However, in the second round, the situation would reverse.
According to the research, in the first round, George Simion would obtain 30.4% of the votes, followed by the current mayor of the capital, Nicușor Dan, with 26% and the joint candidate of PSD-PNL-UDMR, Crin Antonescu, with 17.9%.
Independent Victor Ponta would obtain 9%, while USR’s representative, Elena Lasconi, is credited with only 3.9%.
According to AtlasIntel data, 79.3% of Călin Georgescu’s voters go to George Simion, while 5.7% opt for Victor Ponta. The rest don’t know, don’t vote or go to other candidates.
In the scenario where Anamaria Gavrilă would be the sole candidate of the sovereignists, she would obtain 30.2% of the votes, followed by Nicușor Dan, with 25.3%, Crin Antonescu – 17.7%, Victor Ponta – 9.2%, Elena Lasconi – 3.9%, while another candidate would obtain 3.4%. Independent Daniel Funeriu also appears in the measurement, being credited with 2.5%. In the case of Anamaria Gavrilă, 80.5% of Călin Georgescu’s voters go to her, 6.4% to Victor Ponta, the rest to other candidates or do not vote.
The research also measured who would have gotten the most votes if the second round of last year’s presidential election had been held, and that would have been Elena Lasconi.
