FM Aurescu sends message to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on September 11 tragedy

Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu has sent on Friday a message to the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry by which expressed deep sympathy for the families of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, which killed more than 3,000 American citizens, including members of the U.S.-based Romanian community.
“Today we stand by the side of the American people in commemorating those who died and paying homage to the heroes of one of the darkest moments in recent history. (…) Romania stood and stands together with the United States of America. The absurd tragedy suffered by the American people has brought our two nations even closer together and has given new significance to the relation between Romania and the United States of America,” Aurescu said.
The head of Romanian diplomacy also honoured those who fought, making the supreme sacrifice against terror and reiterated Romania’s determination to continue the efforts aimed to prevent and combat this threat, no matter what its form, alongside the U.S. and the international partners.
He evoked the significant role played by the Strategic Partnership forged by Bucharest and Washington in strengthening the bilateral relations, providing common security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area.
