Francois Hollande to pay visit to Romania on September 12-13

French President Francois Hollande will pay a visit to Romania on September 12-13, Harlem Desir, secretary of state within the French Ministry of European Affairs announced in Bucharest on Thursday.

“President Francois Hollande will come to Romania on September 12-12. We are actively preparing this visit”, said the French official during a joint press conference with the Romanian FM Lazar Comanescu.

Desir also reminded the previous two visits paid by PM Dacian Ciolos in Paris and this meeting with the French premier Manuel Valls, stressing that bilateral relations between Romania and France are very good.

During PM Ciolos’ visit in France in January, president Francois Hollande voiced his openness to Romania’s joining the Schengen space, with the opening of the air space as a first step.

In the last visit to Paris, the Romanian and French prime ministers updated the Romanian-French strategic partnership.

After signing the Road Map, the head of the Executive in Bucharest pointed out that the economic field is a priority of the strategic partnership, also announcing that President Francois Holland will come to Bucharest in September accompanied by a delegation of French businessmen. “We have a very active French business presence in Romania and we want it to be more active in the future,” Ciolos argued.
