Gov’t analyses the first budget rectification in 2018

Discussions on budget rectification have taken place on Monday at Victoria Palace, according to government sources. Although an emergency ordinance could be adopted by the Government sitting on Thursday, the Ministry of Public Finance has not put under debate the draft normative act yet.

The talks at the Victoria Palace were attended by Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă and several cabinet ministers.

Discussions are taking place in the context of the expected budget rectification that should be approved by the Government most likely Thursday, the sources quoted.

At the beginning of July, Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici said that the first budget rectification this year will take place in the last week of July.

“There is no problem in securing the ongoing expenditures at local level or the operating expenses. This is the first conclusion we’ve reached with the central or local structures. There was no discussion that there is no money for wages,” Teodorovici said.

In 2017, the first budget rectification was made by the Government in September and the second one in November.

In parallel with this meeting of the Government, the leaders of the ruling coalition, PSD’s Liviu Dragnea and ALDE’s Călin Popescu Tăriceanu, met in the office of the Chamber of Deputies Speaker.
