Presidential election will take place on November 10, 2019 – the first round, and on November 24 – the second round, Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă has announced at the beginning of the Government sitting on Tuesday.
The Government is to issue a government decision on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said.
“Today (Tuesday) we will seal, by Government Decision, the date of November 10, 2019 as the day of election for the President of Romania, according to the responsibilities of the Government regarding the best organization of the elections and the ensure the citizens’ right to vote. Subsequently, we will adopt the entire package of regulations on the organization and on the electoral process, in line with the Parliament’s amendments, i.e. voting on several days in the polling stations abroad, the possibility of extending the voting time after 21:00h and the implementation of the vote by correspondence,” PM Dăncilă said.
The date of the presidential election was set earlier this month, after a discussion between AEP president Constantin-Florin Mituleţu Buică and Viorica Dăncilă.
The latest IMAS survey released on July 1 says that Klaus Iohannis would win a second term at Cotroceni.
