Iohannis, Biden agree on enhancing the economic dimension of the strategic partnership. U.S. Vice President, content about anti-corruption fight in Romania

President Klaus Iohannis said U.S. Vice President Joe Biden expressed his content regarding how things are going in Romania on fighting corruption.

“We discussed about the situation in Romania. Vice President Biden expressed his content on how things are going on regaridng the anti-corruption fight, his trust that this action will go on,” President Iohannis said at the Romanian Embassy to U.S. on Monday after meeting Joe Biden.

According to the Romanian President, he and the U.S. Vice President agreed on the two countries working more on the economic side of the strategic partnership.

“We assessed together the strategic partnership which is very good very strong. The political, the military dimensions are excellent and we agreed on trying to work on the economic side as well. This kind of partnership must have a very substantial economic part,” Iohannis stated, as quoted by Agerpres.

He appreciated the meeting as a very warm one.

President Iohannis also invited Joe Biden to attend the summit of the countries on NATO Eastern flank which is due in Bucharest on November 3-4.

Iohannis and Biden met at the White House, with the new Romanian ambassador in Washington George Maior attending.

US can become one of the top investors in Romania

As a matter of fact, the Romanian President also referred to the Romanian-US economic ties in his message sent in the opening of BestInvest Economic Forum held in New York, saying that U.S. can become one of the top investors in Romania in the upcoming years.

“U.S. investments are welcome in Romania. We trust that U.S. can become one of the top investors in our country in the upcoming years. Romania’s economy benefits of important advantages: sustained economic growth, financial and monetary stability, low public debt, well trained workforce, as well as natural resources. Romania represents a stability element for the entire region,” the Romanian president pointed out in a message presented by its aide on economic issues Cosmin Marinescu, reads a press release of the Presidential Administration.

According to Iohannis, the trade between Romania and USA is on an upward trend, being clear evidence of the progress, but to capitalize all existent economic opportunities the barriers preventing the free exchange and efficient investments must be removed.
