Iohannis-Ponta talks on state budget, defense allotment at Cotroceni Palace

The President also meets defense, interior and foreign ministers.

President Klaus Iohannis and PM Victor Ponta have had a meeting on Monday at Cotroceni Palace. According to a press release issued by the Presidential Administration, the talks tackled the 2015 state budget topic, as well as the extra 0.3 percent budgeting for Defense, as this issue is going to be high on the European Union’s agenda in the upcoming period.

In his turn, the Premier ‘tweeted’ this was a weekly meeting on usual issues of institutional cooperation and for wishing the head of state ‘Happy New Year!’ Official sources say the two have also discussed the state budget coordinates.

According to a presidential release, President Iohannis met on Monday afternoon the minister of interior Gabriel Oprea and minister of defense Mircea Dusa. The official source said “on the table there are issues related to the presidential prerogatives such as national security, defense and foreign policy as a first contact between presidency and the ministers.”

The meeting with foreign minister Bogdan Aurescu is expected to take place on Tuesday, the same sources say.
