Italy acknowledges, through its ambassador in Bucharest, the involvement of foreign forces in last year’s presidential elections in Romania. Alfredo Maria Durante spoke, in an interview for TVR, about an “intense and profound manipulation” of the electoral process in our country.
“We are closely following the events of the last few weeks, following the cancellation of the first round of the presidential elections. We have realized how intense and profound the manipulation of information from external sources and the deliberate external intervention in the democratic process of elections, the electoral process in Romania, has been. The risk is very high due to the fact that foreign entities exploit the cracks in the internal society. Not only in Romania, but we have seen in particular in Romania what has happened through a careful analysis of the direction, the sentiment of public opinion and how these weak points are exploited,” said the Italian ambassador to Romania, Alfredo Maria Durante, in an interview for TVR.
