Klaus Iohannis away ahead on points, IMAS poll says. PNL, PSD, USR take the podium for parliamentary elections

Klaus Iohannis ranks first in an IMAS poll commissioned by Europa FM, to test the Romanians’ preferences for the presidential candidates. Iohannis is credited by 45.7%, followed at great distance by Mircea Diaconu (16.7%) and Viorica Dancila- PSD (15.1%).

USR’s candidate, Dan Barna ranks 4th with 12.6%. Theodor Paleologu-PMP comes fifth- 6.9% and Kelemen Hunor -2.9%.

The IMAS poll was conducted during September 8-28, on a sample of 1,010 people aged over 18, using the CATI methodology (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing).

Klaus Iohannis ranked first in all previous IMAS polls conducted in the past months.

PNL leads the political parties’ ranking

If parliamentary elections were held this Sunday, the National Liberal Party (PNL) would win the ballot, being credited with 29.6%. PSD ranks second-21.2%, while Save Romania Union (USR) comes third-16.4%.

Pro Romania led by Victor Ponta comes fourth with 10.6% of the voting intentions. UDMR is credited with 5.5%, while Dacian Ciolos’ party, PLUS, would take 4.5% votes.

ALDE, led by Calin Popescu Tariceanu, and PMP, the party set up by ex-president Traian Basescu, would not meet the threshold of 5 pc to enter Parliament. ALDE-4.3%, PMP-3.4%.
