The simple motion submitted by USR against the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, was debated on Monday afternoon in the plenary of the Parliament, with the vote taking place on Wednesday.

According to USR deputies, Minister Popescu “endangers” Romania’s energy security every day and must leave this position immediately. Last Tuesday, USR submitted the simple motion entitled “Incompetence and lies turn off the light in Romania. Minister ‘next week’ Virgil Popescu, a danger for Romania’s energy security “.

According to USR, Minister Popescu “endangers” Romania’s energy security every day and must leave this position immediately. The signatories of the motion claim that the current Minister of Energy received the “chance” to reform the energy system and put his shoulder to the consolidation of Romania’s energy security, but “the same disaster and the same combinations of the last 31 years have continued”.

At the same time, USR describes the management of the energy bill crisis as a “disaster”, noting that Romanians have ended up paying “huge” sums, and that people and the economy are suffering because of “bad” decisions taken by Minister Virgil Popescu.
