Social-democrat President Liviu Dragnea said Wednesday evening that PSD does not intend to initiate the procedure to suspend President Klaus Iohannis, but for the Cioloş Government things are not the same. Liviu Dragnea criticized the government led by Dacian Cioloş as ‘underperforming’ and as being a possible ‘risk to national security’.
Liviu Dragnea’s statements came in response to the ones made by the PNL co-chair Alina Gorghiu, who talked about the PSD’s possible intentions to dismiss the government and to suspend the president.
“If Prime Minister Ciolos will continue to protect the members of the Cabinet who are underperforming, then sure we’ll think seriously about whether the keeping in office of the government does not turn into a national security risk,” said Dragnea.
The PSD President considers that the statements coming from Alina Gorghiu are generated by the liberals’ despair, who fail to rise in the polls.
Referring to a possible censure motion, the PSD leader said that he is asked by his party colleagues to submit it, but that version is still under review because of the possibility that the new government is ‘equally weak’ and needs months to adapt to the job, which could lead Romania in a zone of instability.
Liviu Dragnea pointed to the ministers of agriculture, European Funds and Environment as having a ‘very poor activity, with serious negative effects’.
