Local elections in 49 localities. PSD wins Craiova, PNL – winner at Roman and Târgu-Jiu

Citizens with voting rights from 49 localities in the country went to the polls on Sunday to elect their mayors. Among these were the municipalities of Craiova, Târgu Jiu, Roman, Moineşti and Lupeni.

The candidate of the PNL Gorj at Târgu-Jiu City Hall, Marcel Romanescu, won the Târgu-Jiu City Hall, according to the parallel counting made by liberals. Marcel Romanescu is a university professor and former deputy during 2004-2008. The turnout in Târgu-Jiu was 29.9%.

PSD candidate Mihail Genoiu has won the partial local elections organized for the mayor of Craiova, with over 40% of the votes, according to the Social-Democrats parallel count. At the partial local elections held in Craiova on Sunday voted 47,504 people, out of the 255,782 with voting rights, i.e. 18.57%, according to data provided by the Permanent Electoral Authority.

Liviu Călin Butnariu, PNL candidate for Râşnov City Hall, Brasov County, has won the partial local elections 51% of votes, while his main rival Daniel Nicolae Diaconu has won about 42%, according to PNL’s parallel count. At Râşnov, the turnout was 46.54%.

The PNL candidate for Baia Sprie City Hall, Sebastian Alin Bîrda, has won the partial local elections on Sunday, followed by an independent candidate. Bîrda, obtained 1,295 votes, on the second place was the independent Dorin Simion Sabo with 878 votes. Turnout was of over 30%.

PNL candidate Lucian Ovidiu Micu won the mayor seat in Roman, Neamt County, with over 11,000 votes, i.e. 59%.

At Ulmeni, the PMP candidate Lucian Ioan Titus Morar has won, according to the PMP parallel counting, by twice as many votes against the PSD candidate.

In Busteni – PSD candidate Irinel Ghiţă is the winner.

In Băicoi, the ALDE candidate of Marius Constantin, has won the mayor seat.

PSD candidate Marin Mihăşteanu has won over 66% of the votes, winning for the second consecutive year the mandate of mayor of Sprâncenata commune.

Checks on 11 criminal complaints

Police officers are conducting checks on 11 criminal complaints following the partial local elections, a press release issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) informs.

“12 minor sanctions were imposed on Sunday, out of which six warnings and six fines of RON 3,800. The situations reported through the informational system of turnout monitoring and prevention of illegal voting were checked, no violation of the law has been confirmed,” the press release reads.

“The prefect’s institutions in the 32 counties where elections were organized did not face organizational difficulties, reporting to the MAI the completion of the electoral process,” the press release also reads.
