Ludovic Orban announced that he will run for the presidential elections

PMP and Forta Dreptei Announce Political Alliance for Elections.

The Popular Movement Party and the Forţa Dreptei party announced, on Monday, a political alliance for this year’s parliamentary and presidential elections. At the same time, the President of Forta Dreptei, Ludovic Orban, announced on Monday his candidacy for this year’s presidential elections, going to represent the political alliance formed by PMP and Forta Dreptei.

“Today I am announcing to the citizens of Romania that I have made the decision to enter the competition for the election of the President of Romania. I made the decision to run for the position of president because I consider it a moral obligation that I have towards the Romanian citizens and a gesture of responsibility towards Romania’s future. I have a political career of more than 30 years in which I climbed step by step in almost all positions of public dignity in which I could serve the citizens, from that of local councilor to that of prime minister, to that of president of the Chamber of Deputies. I am a man who has served the public interest and who has been at the disposal of the citizens who have trusted me for over 30 years, almost all the time putting things in the background that maybe for other people were more important”, said Ludovic Orban at the Parliament Palace, where the alliance with PMP has been sealed.

He mentioned that his entire career is one of work, of effort, a career in which he never chose the “beaten path”, but the right one. I want my candidacy to convey a message of trust and hope in the future of our country and in the chance of every Romanian to succeed in life alongside his peers. Romania is a beautiful country, a country with wonderful people, it is a country that has a huge development potential, but, unfortunately, it is a country that was held in place by people without love for the country, by people who won the vote and the trust of the population through lies and who mocked the hopes of the people in exercising their mandates. In the architecture of power in Romania, the position of president is the most important position in the Romanian state, and the president is the one who gives the direction, he is the one who can mobilize all the energies of the nation, he is the one who can lead Romania towards a vision of development that will allows every Romanian to live much better through their own efforts, through their own merits and through the recognition of fairness and work”, Orban said.

PMP and Forta Dreptei had an alliance with USR in the spring local and European parliamentary elections, but USR has announced recently that their alliance would not be extended for the general elections.

“Today a right-wing political pole is born, an authentic pole prepared by the most important battle of this year. The Popular Movement party and the Forţa Dreptei party decided today, in the leadership forums, to lay the foundations of a new political alliance. Today, a real right-wing force is being born, formed by the PMP and Forţa Dreptei, a liberal-conservative political alliance, which will enter the battle from the presidential and parliamentary elections”, stated PMP chairman, Eugen Tomac.

He also said that the right wing has the obligation to come up with solutions “because the citizens are tired of witnessing a big scam that PNL is selling.” Those who are in bed with PSD cannot be a solution for the right-wing electorate. That is why we decided today to lay the foundations of this political alliance. We also started constructive discussions with the Right Alternative and with those from the Maniu Mihalache National Peasant Party. For us, it is very important to be together in these important battles, which we will fight for the future of Romania with all honest and courageous right-wing forces”, said Tomac.

Ten days ago, the Save Romania Union (USR) announced it would run on its own lists in this year’s parliamentary and presidential elections. The party led by Elena Lasconi said it had negotiations with other parties to form a right-wing alliance, but their demands were “unreasonable and impossible to put into practice”.
