Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu was received on Thursday by his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, and during the meeting the Prime Minister declared that “Romania and the Government support Israel’s right to self-defense”.
“Consolidating cooperation with Prime Minister Netanyahu and our Israeli friends. Romania and the Government of Romania support Israel’s right to self-defense and we expressed our concern about the security situation and the danger of regional escalation,” the Prime Minister wrote on X.
“I reiterated Romania’s support for a cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which would lead to the release of all hostages, the restoration of security and the provision of a continuous and unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid in the enclave,” Ciolacu also wrote.
The Romanian Prime Minister is on a working visit to the State of Israel, accompanied by a government delegation that includes the Minister of Defense, Angel Tîlvăr, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminiţa Odobescu, the Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Radu Oprea, and Deputy Silviu Vexler.
PM Ciolacu is meeting with his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu and with the Minister for Strategic Affairs of the State of Israel, Ron Dermer.
The agenda of the visit also includes a one-on-one meeting between Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and the President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog, after which a plenary meeting of the Romanian government delegation with Israeli state officials is scheduled.
For their part, the ministers accompanying Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu will have bilateral meetings with their Israeli counterparts, respectively, the Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Yisrael Katz, and the Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry, Nir Barkat.
