MEP Catalin Ivan has announced on Tuesday that he will file a request to exclude PSD from the European Socialists Group in the European Parliament this autumn, a request accompanied by a report on the “actions of this criminal group in defending the corrupt people.”
“Following the discussions with several colleagues in the European Parliament, I will file an application for the exclusion of PSD from the Group of Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament at the beginning of the European Parliament’s autumn session.
“I will submit to the Group leadership a complete report with the actions of this criminal group in defending the corrupt people and I will get the support of my colleagues of good faith from the other national delegations. If European socialists do not get rid of Dragnea and his party, the next year’s elections do not look good at all,” MEP Catalin Ivan wrote on Facebook.
Referring to PSD, he added that he has decided to fully commit himself to “block this mafia-like structure.”
“After 15 years of political activity, always hoping for a new generation that will reform it and that will impose a new way of making politics in Romania, the generation has come but has not changed anything, I decided to totally dedicate myself to blocking this mafia-like structure, anti-Romanian, anti-democratic structure and totally dedicated to protect the personal interests of one man.
I do this with clear conscience that I did everything that depended on me from within so as to avoid reaching this point. I could not do it from the inside, I have the duty to do everything in my power from the outside,” Ivan said.
Catalin Ivan is PSD member.
Earlier on Tuesday, Die Press reported that Beate Meinl-Reisinger, an Austrian politician, has asked that Romanian party ALDE, forming the ruling coalition with the Social Democrat Party (PSD), should be ousted from the European Group Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.
“From my point of view, the time has come for the consequences to be examined and for a quick decision to be taken,” stated Beate Meinl-Reisinger, leader of NEOS.
Beate Meinl-Reisinger has sent a letter to the president of the European group ALDE, Hans van Baalen, asking him to exclude ALDE Romanian Party from the group.
