NATO Secretary General to visit Romania

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg comes to Romania this week. He is to meet Romanian Defence Minister Mircea Dusa on July 2, at 9 a.m, Defence Ministry informs.

He will also meet President Klaus Iohannis on the same day. The meeting is due at Cotroceni Palace at 11:30.

Stoltenberg’ program also includes a visit to the NATO National Force Integration Unit (NFIU) headquarters in Bucharest, where joint press statements are scheduled.

His visit occurs against the consolidation of the Alliance’s defence capacity of the eastern flank countries in the context of Ukraine’s conflict.

Two days ago, Romanian Defence minister told the annual meeting in Bucharest of Romania’s military attaches that Romania is making significant progress with the establishment of two NATO command and control units in Bucharest – the NATO National Force Integration Unit (NFIU) and the Multi-National Division Command South-East (MND-SE).
