Nicușor Dan Reported to Prosecutor’s Office Over Unreported Donations

The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) has notified the General Prosecutor’s Office regarding three irregularities found in Nicușor Dan’s electoral campaign. Among them, according to the AEP report obtained by HotNews, is the fact that Nicușor Dan obtained donations worth over 3 million lei (around 650,000 euros), which he did not declare.

The AEP control was carried out between April 4 and 24, according to the document obtained by HotNews. According to the AEP, three irregularities were found.
According to the AEP, Nicușor Dan did not declare 3,263,790 lei collected through the “Stripe” platform.
“Although the aforementioned donations were collected with a clear purpose, namely to financially support the electoral campaign of the independent candidate Dan Nicușor-Daniel, these donations have not been declared to the Permanent Electoral Authority to date, there being reasonable suspicions that these amounts were used from bank accounts other than the one notified to the Permanent Electoral Authority for financing the diaspora electoral campaign of Mr. Dan Nicușor-Daniel,” the document states.
For this, Nicușor Dan may be sanctioned with a warning or a fine between 15,000 and 50,000 lei and risks having the entire amount confiscated.
The second irregularity found by the AEP, according to the report also sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office, Nicușor Dan used the city hall’s official car for electoral trips on April 11, something prohibited by law.
In fact, Nicușor Dan publicly admitted, in a press conference on April 16, that he had done this.
“I am the mayor of Bucharest and I have to go to a debate on a television station at 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. Do you think that, leaving the mayor’s office, I should go with the city hall’s car or go home and use my personal car to go to the debate? I gave you the answer. I am the mayor, the city hall’s car takes me home, maybe to a debate,” he said at the time.
The AEP claims that, in fact, the mayor, by doing this, violated Law 334/2006: “His electoral campaign was financed from funds from a public institution,” the report prepared by the AEP states. For this act, Nicușor Dan can be sanctioned with a warning or a fine of 10,000 to 25,000 lei, according to the AEP.
Nicușor Dan is also accused of placing unauthorized banners at the campaign headquarters on Regina Elisabeta Boulevard, number 38. The act can be sanctioned with a warning or a fine of 10,000 to 25,000 lei, according to the document:
“We found that Mr. Dan Nicușor-Daniel, an independent candidate, used electoral propaganda materials other than the types of materials provided for by the electoral legislation in force, thus on 05.04.2025 at 16.47 on the windows of the Cișmigiu Hotel, located on Regina Elisabeta Boulevard, no. 38, sector 5, Bucharest, there were banners (stickers) inscribed with the slogan “Honest Man!”, and in the background was the image of Mr. Dan Nicușor-Daniel. We specify that the date of the start of the electoral campaign was 04.04.2025, thus resulting in the fact that this material was used during the the electoral campaign”, according to the document.

Ban him also from running for President. And if you ban him then all the donors will sue him for not being able to return each donation to the supporters.
