The U.S. Ambassador in Bucharest, Hans Klemm, has been awarded the National Order Star of Romania on Monday in a ceremony at Cotroceni Palace, to mark Klemm’s end of term. The Star of Romania is the country’s highest distinction.
“As a token of high recognition and appreciation for the personal involvement in developing the good relations between Romania and U.S., in enhancing the Romanian-U.S. strategic partnership, Romania’s president is awarding H.E. Hans Klemm the National Order the Star of Romania, Grand Cross,” reads the Presidency’s decision released in the Official Gazettte.
President Iohannis thanked ambassador Klemm for his contribution to reconfirming and enhancing the bilateral ties.
In his turn, Hans Klemm thanked Klaus Iohannisfor the support voiced for the Romanian-US relation.
Klemm also praised the work of his team at the U.S. Embassy in the actions to “promote US national security in the partnership with Romania”, and also “to promote democracy and the democratic values, to endorse the freedom of speech, religious cults, the rule of law and the anti-corruption fight”.
The American ambassador added that during his mandate the commercial exchanges between Romania and U.S. increased by 40%.
Hans Klemm took over the position of ambassador to Romania in September 2015. Adrian Zuckerman is the new U.S. ambassador in Bucharest.
