Over 1,400 French citizens voted in Romania for the presidential runoffs

Over 1,400 French citizens cast their vote in the presidential elections’ runoffs in Romania and Republic of Moldova, most of them voting for Emmanuel Macron, according to the French Embassy in Bucharest.

2,557 voters were enrolled in the runoffs in the consular constituency at the French Embassy in Bucharest, with 1,419 casting their vote and a turnout of 55.49 per cent.

The total votes cast in the runoffs was 1,331. 1,174 citizens (88.20 per cent) voted for Emmanuel Macron, and 157 (11.80 per cent) for Marine Le Pen.

Vote in Romania in the first round

Over 1,300 French citizens voted in Romania and the Republic of Moldova — in the consular constituency of the French Embassy in Bucharest — in the first round of the presidential election on April 23.

According to information released online, 2,551 voters were enrolled in the first round at the French Embassy in Bucharest and 1,331 have actually cast their vote (turnout 52.76 pct).

Emmanuel Macron topped the voting in Romania and the Republic of Moldova with 524 votes (39.37 pct), followed by François Fillon with 428 votes (32.16 pct), Jean-Luc Mélenchon — 179 votes (13.45 pct), Marine Le Pen — 81 votes (6.09 pct), Benoît Hamon — 70 votes (5.26 pct) and Nicolas Dupont-Aignan — 23 votes (1.73 pct).
