PM Viorica Dancila has stated in Friday that President Klaus Iohannis is blocking the Executive’s activity by denying to appoint the new ministers for Transports and Development portfolio. She called on the head of state to change his attitude.
„Unfortunately, we all notice that Mr. President Iohannis is doing his best to block the activity of the government in two vital fields. I consider these political actions don’t belong here, especially during this time when we are preparing to take over the Presidency of the EU Council and in a year when we are celebrating the Centennial. It is time to enjoy consensus, understanding and peace, 100 years since the Great Union. I make a public call to President Iohannis to change his attitude in compliance with his constitutional prerogatives and not create incertitude in two sectors that are so important”, the premier told the Government sitting.
She added she would like the National Day to be celebrated in „a climate of peace, with no divisions”, arguing that „national interest must be go first ahead of political interest”.
President Klaus Iohannis has said there will be no minister changed by December 1. He has announced on Thursday that he will take no decision on the second government reshuffle regarding the Transports and Development ministries until after the date of December 1, when Romania’s centennial is celebrated.
