Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos stressed on Tuesday, in New York, that Romania fully recognizes the shared responsibility for managing large influx of refugees, adding there’s need for a series of urgent measures to solve this crisis.

“Romania fully recognizes the shared responsibility to manage the influx of refugees. Through its efforts, Romania has sought to alleviate the humanitarian pressure by providing financial contributions to the international humanitarian organizations, such as UN High Commissariat for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), UN agency for Aid to Palestinian refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and the world food Programme,” the Prime Minister said in his speech delivered at the leaders’ summit on the global crisis of refugees, organized by the US along with Canada, Ethiopia, Germany, Jordan, Mexico and Sweden which took place in New York on Tuesday, Agerpres informs.

Ciolos added that Romania has granted bilateral humanitarian aid to Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Afghanistan, underscoring that our country has provided ‘temporary shelter’ for the refugees in the Emergency Transit Centre located in Timisoara.
