PM Dacian Ciolos said on Thursday that his cabinet did not waste billions of euros, as claimed by PSD leader Liviu Dragnea, but succeeded to bring in Romania EUR 7.23 billion from the European Commission this year.
“The Ciolos government did not waste billions of euros, but succeeded in bringing to Romania EUR 7.23 billion from the European Commission, of which some EUR 2.5 billion for the current programmes,” Ciolos said in a statement made by the government spokesman Liviu Iolu.
The reactions follow Dragnea’s statements that “the Ciolos government is a risk for the national security, because Romania wasted billions of euros.”
According to Ciolos, the current cabinet has increased the absorption rate by more than 20%. “From 58% – the success registered by the previous governments since 2007 – to almost 82% currently,” the Premier’s statement reads, adding that foreign investments have increased in 2016 by more than 10% against the previous year, to EUR 3.7 billion. “Romania has registered a 5% economic growth, the highest in European Union in conditions of macro-economic stability,” the PM argues.
