PM Dancila to talk to Bucharest Prefect and Interior Minister on their opposite statements over protests

PM Viorica Dancila has announced on Friday she would talk to Interior minister Carmen Dan and to the Bucharest Prefect Speranta Cliseru about the controversies around the intervention order given to the gendarmes during the Diaspora rally on August 10.

Commenting the contradictory statements of the minister and of the prefect on the intervention at the protest, the premier said she doesn’t want to accuse or to absolve anyone from guilt and that accusations must be launched based on „concrete evidence”.

These things will be discussed at the Government. I haven’t talked yet with the Prefect or with the minister”, Dancila said.

Bucharest Prefect Speranta Cliseru has been approached by a citizen at a terrace in Bucharest this week, with the man asking her to come out public and say that Interior minister Carmen Dan and PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea are lying on the Gendarmerie’s intervention during the August 10 protest. In retort, the prefect told the citizen that she had said that and asked the citizen to ask the people who are guilty of that, for she is innocent.

Your denial must be much more extensive, your denial of PSD must be much more extensive,” the citizen further told Cliseru, with the prefect replying: „Be patient, it will be”.

Previously, Speranta Cliseru said she had signed the intervention order of the gendarmes after midnight on August 10, thus contradicting the statements of the Interior minister Carmen Dan and of the Gendarmerie chiefs, who were claiming the order had been signed around 8 p.m. and the evacuation in front of the Government building had occurred around 23:00hr.
