Poll: AUR Would Get One-Third of Votes If Elections Held Now

The Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR) would be voted for by 32% of Romanians if parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, according to an opinion poll conducted by Avangarde between May 23 and 28. The PSD is in second place in Romanians’ preferences, with 20%.

The political figures with the highest level of trust are Nicușor Dan and Ilie Bolojan, the same sociological research reveals, and a majority of 53% of Romanians believe that the country is heading in the wrong direction.

According to the Avangarde poll, 32% of Romanians would vote for AUR in the parliamentary elections. In second place is PSD with 20%, followed by PNL, in third place with 16%, then USR with 15%. UDMR would obtain 5%, SOS România – 4%, POT – 3%, and Forța Dreptei, PMP and DREPT 1% each.

In terms of trust in personalities and politicians, President Nicușor Dan leads, with 44% of respondents saying they rather trust him. In second place, with a trust rate of 40%, is Ilie Bolojan, the interim president of the PNL.

Călin Georgescu has a trust rate of 22%, followed by Sorin Grindeanu, the interim president of PSD, with 20%, George Simion, the president of AUR – 19%, Cătălin Predoiu – 15% and the interim president of USR, Dominic Fritz, with 14%. Diana Șoșoacă closes the top with a trust rate of only 7%.

To the question “From your point of view, is the direction Romania is heading in a good or a wrong one?”, 53% of respondents answered that the direction is wrong, while 38% said that the direction is a good one.

The Avangarde survey was conducted between May 23 and 28, on a multi-stratified, probabilistic sample of 1,300 respondents aged 18 and over, using the CATI method (telephone). The maximum sampling error, at a 95% confidence level, is +/- 2.3%.
