President Klaus Iohannis convened the parliamentary parties for a new round of consultations at the Cotroceni Palace, for Thursday at 11 am, after the Cioloș Government had been rejected in Parliament. The Presidential Administration is to announce the hours set for each party.
“The President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Iohannis, noted that, following the vote, the Parliament did not trust the Government proposed by Mr. Dacian Ciolos. Consequently, pursuant to the provisions of art.85 paragraph 1 and of art. 103 paragraph 1 of the Romanian Constitution, the President of Romania convenes consultations with the political parties and formations represented in the Parliament in order to appoint a new candidate for the position of Prime Minister, on October 21 this year, starting with 11.00 ”, reads a press release by the Presidential Administration.
The Ciolos Cabinet was dismissed by vote in Parliament today. It only secured 88 votes in favour out of the total needed of 234 votes for the investiture. According to sources to mainstream media, besides those 78 USR lawmakers, as two were absent, other ten MPs from PNL and national minorities would have also voted in favor of the Cabinet proposed by the USR leader.
