President Klaus Iohannis has stated in Brussels on Friday he would take the decision on the Justice minister’s proposal to dismiss DNA chief prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi after Easter.
Iohannis added he would explain his decision by a public statement and that he would consider the arguments and documents presented by both sides (editor note: the Justice minister’s stance and the negative note issued by the Superior Council of Magistracy-CSM).
“I will take a decision at the right moment, but what I can tell you now is that the decision will not be taken before holidays, more precisely, I will take it after Easter. I will explain my decision in a public statement at that time, but I will be definitely be inspired in taking my decision by all documents made available to me by both sides,” the head of state pointed out.
The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) gave a negative opinion last month on the proposal forwarded by Justice minister Tudorel Toader to dismiss DNA head Kovesi.
The CSM report has 51 pages and has been sent to the Presidency with a negative note.
The prosecutors of the CSM explained their negative opinion a week ago.
