President Iohannis pays visit to US to attend the nuclear safety summit

President Klaus Iohannis pays a visit to the US from Wednesday to Saturday, where he will attend the summit of nuclear safety in Washington.

On Thursday the Romanian head of state will visit the Holocaust Memorial and will attend the Dinner hosted by President Barack Obama at the White House in honour of the heads of delegations attending the nuclear security summit, hotnews.ro reports.

Klaus Iohannis will attend on Friday the opening session of the summit, will have a working lunch and will take part to the discussions based on a scenario prepared by the organizers which consist of the presentation of a video, a hypothetical case of nuclear terrorism.

On Friday the President will meet the representatives of the Romanian community in Washington.

The last time President Iohannis was in the USA was in September last year when he delivered his first speech at the UN, addressing the Summit on sustainable development. The Romanian president met U.S. Vice President Joe Biden at the end of September, 2015. President Iohannis also met the Romanian community in New York during the visit in the U.S.,  as well as his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, the two officials inviting each other to pay visits in Romania and China. Iohannis also attended a dinner granted by the Japanese premier, Shinzo Abe.
