President Klaus Iohannis has promulgated on Monday the law approving the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 72/2017 on the implementation of the RO-ALERT emergency warning system.
The law regulates the implementation of the RO-ALERT Emergency Warning System for the population, based on modern technologies in the field of communications and information technology. Similar systems have proven utility and efficiency in the US and in some EU member states – the Netherlands, Lithuania, France, Germany, Belgium, the normative act reads, romaniatv.net informs.
The RO-ALERT system has many advantages against the current one, the most important of which are: the transmission of warning messages adapted to the imminent incident through the mobile operator networks, the rapid transmission of messages to all users in the threatened area, even under congestion conditions of the mobile operators’ networks, instantly displaying messages on the mobile terminal screen without requiring any user intervention, cyclical alerts at configurable intervals, warnings are to be received also by the terminals on roaming, accuracy of the warning messages, based only on information provided by authorized sources. The RO-ALERT system will be implemented with the technical support of the Special Telecommunications Service and will be operated 24/24 by the operational structures of the emergency situations inspectorate (IGSU) and its subordinate structures.
