President Iohannis summons parties for consultations on referendum’s results. Corlatean will not be minister

President Klaus Iohannis has announced on Thursday he summons the political parties to consultations, at Cotroceni Palace, on the way of enforcing the referendum’s results.

“I’ve sent invitations for Tuesday and Wednesday to find the best solutions,” he said.

The head of state mentioned the vote count is completed and 6.5 million Romanians have said YES to the two questions of the referendum. “We have to decide on how to enforce them after the people has decided. For finding the best procedures, I’ve decided to summon the parties for consultations,” President Iohannis said.

Asked about amendments to the Constitution, Iohannis said he would not count on more amendments, the opinion earmarked by the people has to be implemented, he said.

Referring to the PSD proposals to replace some minister, the head of state said PSD found nothing better than to propose Titus Corlatean, former Foreign Minister, “the author of the disaster at elections in 2014. The proposal is clearly rejected. Titus Corlatean will not be minister,” Iohannis stressed.

“The catastrophe in organizing the election, the political responsibility is with the PSD Government. The guilt lies with them. We should not look for a doorkeeper at some embassy to blame him. The two (FM Melescanu and Interior Minister Carmen Dan – our note) went to the TV stations to say they would not resign. I asked for their dismissal,” President Iohannis said.

Referring to a censure motion, President Iohannis said PSD has lost the elections, “so I hope the opposition is writing the last propositions for it.”
