President warns on 2024 electoral year: We will remain vigilant in the face of extremist currents

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis warned, on Tuesday, at the annual meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions in Romania, that 2024 is also a very important electoral year on a European and national level. We will remain vigilant in the face of extremist currents and will not allow our value system and the basic principles of our society to be affected,” he added.

2024 is also a very important electoral year on a European and national level. All elections this year will have to reflect our democratic maturity. Romania successfully traveled the road to freedom and democracy, took its rightful place in the European Union and NATO; we will remain vigilant in the face of extremist currents and we will not allow our value system and the basic principles of our society to be affected”, Iohannis said.

The Romanian head of state also stated that dialogue, collaboration and solidarity are the solution to “build a safer and more prosperous world”.

“I rely on dialogue, collaboration and solidarity to build a safer and more prosperous world. And including your role, the diplomats, is to find the elements that bring us closer and make us stronger together. We cannot afford to be weak, divided or incoherent. We must defend the rules-based world order as well as our community of values and security. In this sense, I count on your involvement, just as I count on that of the Romanian diplomats!” concluded President Iohannis.
