Prince Charles meets PM Grindeanu, Patriarch Daniel, visits the Village Museum and Vacaresti Delta

Prince Charles on Thursday met PM Sorin Grindeanu at Victoria Palace, with talks tackling the situation of the Romanian young woman injured in the recent Westminster attack in London, as well as the situation of the Romanian community living and working in the UK. This is the second day of the official visit paid by the British heir in Romania.

Sources revealed to local media that Prince of Wales told Romanian PM Grindeanu that he had visited the patients injured in the London terror attack, but that he couldn’t see the Romanian woman due to her serious condition. Prince Charles said that all his prayers go to her.

He also told the Romanian premier that he knows about the Romanian community in Great Britain and that he is impressed with how numerous it is.

The same sources said that PM Grindeanu gave Prince of Wales a Poenari handmade ballpoint.

Before the meeting with PM Grindeanu, the British prince went to visit the “Dimitrie Gusti” National Village Museum, where he was welcomed the traditional Romanian way, with bread and salt.

Prince Charles was interested in visiting the 300-year-old Dragomiresti Church, but he also admired the painted eggs exhibitions and handmade wooden icons.

Prince Charles stopped and talked to the traditional craftsmen on site, then attended an folk artistic performance by Gelu Voicu and the folk music band “The fiddlers” of Teleorman county. The Prince of Wales joined the round dance, the traditional famous ‘hora’, staged by the dancers in the museum’s courtyard.

He received several gifts at the museum as well: a small-sized hope chest, a jar of honey, a pair of ‘opinci‘ (Romanian peasant’s sandals), a handmade sculptured cross but also an oar given by Romanian former champion canoeist, Ivan Patzaichin.

Later on Thursday, the Prince of Wales met the Romanian Patriarch Daniel during an encounter at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest, where he attended a short religious music moment performed by a Byzantine choir. Prince Charles recieved a mosaic icon made of Murano glass.

He also got handmade gifts from the children in ‘FARA’ foster home. Prince of Wales also visited the Vacaresti Delta in the Capital, where he planted a poplar. He received a bunch of dandelions from a little girl.
