Chairman of the Social Democrat Party, Liviu Dragnea on Thursday has been heard in the case of Satu Mare County Council’s deputy president, Mircea Govor, also leader of the PSD county branch, who had been detained for corruption on Wednesday. After leaving the National Anti-corruption Directorate’s HQs, Dragnea said he is just a witness in this case and that he wouldn’t disclose what he told prosecutors.
Earlier in the day, asked to say his opinion about the local leader’s case, Liviu Dragnea refused to comment. “I want to say that I regret what is happening with Mircea Govor,” Dragnea mentioned.
The leader of the PSD Satu Mare organization, Mircea Govor was taken into custody by the anti-corruption prosecutors on Wednesday, being charged with blackmail and interventions upon persons from the National Agency for Fiscal Administration’s management. Later on Thursday, he was placed under house arrest.
It’s not the first time that Govor is targeted by DNA, as he was involved in a scandal related to the presidential elections in November last year.
Moreover, Social Democrat MP and party vice-president Andrei Dolineaschi was also indicted in Govor’s file.
