PSD suspends Robert Negoita from the party, Serban Nicolae – replaced as leader of the parliamentary group in the Senate

The PSD National Executive Committee met Wednesday evening in the first session after Viorica Dancila was elected chairwoman of the Social Democrats.

Several decisions have been taken, including the six-month suspension from the party of District 3 mayor Robert Negoita, PSD sources say.

The committee has also decided to replace Senator Serban Nicolae (photo 2) from the position of leader of the PSD parliamentary group in the Senate. As of September, for the new parliamentary session, he will be replaced by Senator Liviu Lucian Mazilu.

According to Digi24 TV private broadcaster, the social-democrats chose PSD Senator Mihu Stefan as the new party treasurer, and decided to postpone the talks about the government reshuffling a few weeks.

The presidential election was also addressed by the sitting, with the PSD surveys in view of the election including ALDE chairman Calin Popescu Tariceanu, the quoted television reported.

Sources say Viorica Dancila has reproached Serban Nicolae the sabotage of the party’s decisions, and Robert Negoita has been suspended for repeated criticism to the Prime Minister and the Government.

Serban Nicolae ran against PM Viorica Dancila for the PSD top position. He was also against the Social Democrats’ position to support Mugur Isarescu‘s candidacy as BNR Governor, although the prime minister had previously announced that the PSD-ALDE coalition decided to grant the support for Isarescu.
