PSD leader Liviu Dragnea has requested Justice Minister Tudorel Toader to find a solution for amnesty and pardon by the end of the year, or else a solution would be found by the party Executive Committee, hotnews.ro and digi24.ro inform on Tuesday.
Reportedly, Dragnea blames former Vice-Premier Paul Stanescu for being the main opponent of amnesty and pardon.
The information comes following the statement made on Monday by the PSD Chairman, who said he is “absolutely convinced there will be no emergency ordinance on amnesty on December 1.”
Dragnea has also said he hasn’t discussed with Minister Toader and PM Dancila about an ordinance on amnesty, and he is convinced no such ordinance will be issued on December 1.
Prime Minister Viorica Dancila has had a similar position.
“This topic hasn’t been discussed. This wasn’t on the Standing Bureau’s agenda. When making a decision, one must have all the elements in order to make a positive or negative decision,” the Premier said.
In September, Liviu Dragnea had said that amnesty “is an act of justice” for “those innocent and sentenced” and not clemency on the centennial year. He added that “something must be done” for those sentenced with “false evidence, on blackmail, on the protocols.”
