PSD’s Dragnea wants a law against those who defame Romania. No candidate from outside the party for presidency

PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea said on Monday that a law is needed against those who defame Romania, “as Monica Macovei and other MEPs do, who are lying about their own country,” so that “the Romanian state can correct such things.”

“We talked to more colleagues and agreed to work on a law, I do not know if a legislation is needed, a law regulating or allowing the Romanian state to sanction these things, because these people – as Monica Macovei and other MEPs do, who are lying about their own country, defaming their own country, bring a lot of damages, and we lose sovereignty, we lose dignity, we lose respect and we do not get anything,” Liviu Dragnea said for Romania TV.

Dragnea said that the parallel state is an octopus that has stifled the Romania’s development, and President Klaus Iohannis is one of the beneficiaries, but that the reasons for which the head of state prefers to defend some parts of this parallel state are not clear.

“It has done so much harm, that these things cannot remain unpunished. (…) The parallel state is a group of individuals, unfortunately very large, with unimaginably broad ramifications, which exercise the power of the state in an illegal and illegitimate way, replacing the legitimate power gained through democratic vote,” Dragnea told Romania TV.

“Now and before, it’s made up by people in the secret services, some of the prosecutors, some of the judges, people from the SPP, headed by General Pahonţu, people from the Financial Guard, people from ANAF, police, from the private environment. It is a ramification that, when it will be revealed, I’m sure it will slowly come out, I hope it will blow-up, we will all be terrified. Because it is a octopus that has strangled the development of Romania and crushed destinies, which has broken lives, put people in jail, allowed criminals to avoid punishment, protected foreign interests, protected economic interests, which damaged Romania’s interests, which affected the interests of the domestic capital, which got involved in the internal elections of certain parties, got involved in the democratic elections, in the making of governments, opened files, which closed files and is trying to do so further and still succeeds. Maybe not at the levels before, but the level anyway is big enough and quite dangerous,” Liviu Dragnea said.

Social Democrats leader Liviu Dragnea said Monday that it is unlikely that the “PSD, a very large party” to support a candidate from outside the party for the presidential election.
