The minister of European Funds, Rovana Plumb has become acting minister of Transports, while Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici takes over the interim leadership of the Regional Development Ministry. PM Dancila has sent the two proposals to the Presidency and the President has signed the decrees Okaying their interim mandates.
The two positions have become vacant after President Klaus Iohannis has signed the decree taking note of the resignation of the two former ministers, Lucian Sova (Transports) and Paul Stanescu (Regional Development) and after he has also denied the nomination of Mircea Draghici and Lia Olguta Vasilescu for the two positions.
“Premier Viorica Dancila has sent on Monday to Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis the proposals to appoint interim ministers for the Transports and Regional Development portfolios, so that the continuity of the activity in the two sectors should be ensured“, reads a Government press release.
In her turn, PM Dancila argued that Transports and Regional Development are key portfolios in conducting major investment projects. “It’s vital though, considering the current context, to find permanent solutions on appointing the holders for the two positions“, she underlined.
The Executive also says that it fully understands the responsibilities of the governance and those arising after taking over the Presidency of the EU Council.
