The ruling party and the opposition shook hands on a new joint project after the consensus on the Tax Code. This time, they want to join forces to make the Parliament credible again.
The interim leader of the Social Democrat Party (psd), Liviu Dragnea informed in Thursday that he agreed with the National Liberal Party (PNL) co-president Alina Gorghiu to make a joint plan that should put the Parliament’s credit back on track.
“I believe that in maximum one month, we’ll have a set of measures that could make the institution credible again. We’ll settle a working group next week that should present some proposals on the MPs conduct, on the attitude and communication that the lawmakers should have in order for the Parliament to work more efficiently,” Dragnea said.
In her turn, Alina Gorghiu said that PNL is working on a draft of Parliament reforming that would be debated among the parliamentary parties, arguing that the Parliament’s current image is ‘deplorable’.
“I’ve talked to PSD president about the need of transformation of the law-making body. It is the only institution that didn’t undergo any reforms in the past 20 years; the image is deplorable. There are many things that need refitting. The biggest issue is its inefficiency,” Gorghiu argued.
