The Ministry of Finances will set up the position of secretary of state who will coordinate European affairs regarding public finances in the view of Romania’s taking over the EU Presidency during July-December 2019.
The new position was Okayed by the Government on Wednesday.
For the files on the European agenda, the Ministry of Public Finances will have to organize all activities involving the Romania’s role after assuming the EU Presidency. All these are needed to support the national interest in relation to the other member states, with the European Commission and the EU Council.
At the same time, a new direction of analysis and research on public finances will be set up within the ministry. It will be coordinated by a chief economist, assimilated to the general director position.
At the same time, the ministry will take over the activities on public-private partnership from the Foreign Investments Department. The new structure will contribute to drafting the Government’s strategy on public investments. The new body will also settle the norms and procedures for identifying and selecting the projects.
