Simple motion against Justice Minister Tudorel Toader postponed. PM Dancila – decision expected at the PSD Executive Committee

The simple motion against Justice Minister Tudorel Toader, initiated by PNL and USR, has been postponed to Wednesday. The motion, initiated in the Senate, is titled ‘Justice, victim in Toader’s hands’, Pro TV private broadcaster informs.

Parliamentary sources say the postponement is due to the absence of senators, some being abroad, which led to lack of quorum on Monday, but also to Toader’s agenda.

USR Senator Adrian Wiener has confirmed the postponement until Wednesday.

PNL points to the intrusion in the judiciary through the high court and other courts.

“To err is human, but to persist in error is diabolic, this is why the PNL parliamentary group requests the immediate cessation of the intrusion in the act of justice, which, according to article 126, paragraph 1 of the Constitution, republished, is made only by the High Court of Cassation and Justice and by the other courts,” the simple motion reads.

PM Dancila says a decision will be made at the next PSD Executive Committee

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila said on Monday that she will make a decision regarding Minister Tudorel Toader at the PSD National Executive Committee, after hearing the opinions of other party colleagues.

“A decision regarding Tudorel Toader will be made at the National Executive Committee, I will listen to my colleagues’ opinions and I will also have my say,” the Premier said.

The statements come as many PSD leaders call for the replacement from office of Tudorel Toader and the social-democrat chairman Liviu Dragnea said the decision belongs to the Premier.

PM Dancila added that during the Executive Committee an assessment on the Justice Minister’s activity will be presented.

Last Saturday, Justice Minister Tudorel Toader retorted in an unusual manner on Facebook to the ruling party’s chairman, Liviu Dragnea on the issue of emergency ordinances on justice-related matters.

More precisely, Minister Toader posted a short message on Facebook Saturday evening, saying that no emergency ordinance can be adopted in the absence of emergency. “A simple specification! In the absence of emergency, an Emergency Ordinance cannot be adopted!”, said the minister’s initial post. After some minutes the post was updated with a postscript. “The post will be deleted in an hour”.

Toader’s reaction came after PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea warned the Justice Minister on Friday that he cannot go on like this, announcing the emergency ordinances for months and doing nothing.
