Socialist MEP Ana Gomes about the Romanian PM: Finally, Viorica Dancila has said something!

Tough reply to Prime Minister Viorica Dancila (photo 2) coming from MEP Ana Gomes (Portugal – photo 1), following the Premier’s charges of having relations with businessman George Soros and that her own country wanted to waive her immunity. In an interview granted to Digi 24 TV private broadcaster (to be aired Tuesday evening), Ana Gomes says Viorica Dancila is ‘the straw premier’ of Liviu Dragnea.

“I am glad that finally Prime Minister Dancila has something to say – finally she has said something! In the latest years in the European Parliament I have never heard her saying something. What she said about me is factually incorrect, mainly that my country tried to waive my immunity. It wasn’t like this. (…) The perception is that Liviu Dragnea is the one leading the party and the Government. Whenever he has confrontations with the Prime Ministers, as it happened with Victor Ponta and with the latest Premiers, he gets rid of them and replaces them with straw people – currently straw women. As I said, I do not recollect what kind of contribution Mrs. Dancila had when she was in the European Parliament,” Ana Gomes said during the interview, according to digi24.ro.

Romanian PM Viorica Dancila told RTV private broadcaster that the Socialist MEP Ana Gomes’ previous statement on the judiciary situation in Romania is “totally uninspired”.

“It’s a totally uninspired statement. Mrs. Ana Gomes was indeed and still is in the Group of the European Democrat Socialists, but her country itself, Portugal, wanted to withdraw her immunity twice, precisely for defaming her own country. I think she is a person who can bear a resemblance to Mrs. Monica Macovei, for what she does and how she brings her country into the limelight in the European Parliament,” Dancila said.

Moreover, the Romanian PM revealed that Ana Gomes is member of the Friends of Europe Foundation, sponsored by George Soros.

Ana Gomes has recently told RFI that “the European officials are not stupid”, and that “Socialists cannot close their eyes before corruption”, adding that the EU officials “are obtaining information from several sources in Romania”.

Her statement came after PM Dancila had asked the EU officials in Brussels to request information from the Romanian Government “when it’s about divergences”.
