Tariceanu: Gov’t to ban pension and employment in state institutions

Senate Speaker Calin Popescu Tariceanu has announced on Monday that the government will propose a law prohibiting the accumulation of the pension with the employment in state institutions. “The possibility of re-employing in the same place, position, in the same ministry or in other ministries will no longer exist, people have to decide, one cannot be an employee and have pension; if one feels unable to continue work then he retires,” Tariceanu said, according to hotnews.ro.

“The law will be amended so this dual system will not be in force. A draft bill from the government will be submitted, the ordinance may be amended as well (the EGO on Friday, which modified the special pensions regime – our note).

“The decision will be valid for everyone, not just for those who retire now,” he said.

We remind the readers that the press has presented in recent weeks countless cases of young retirees, especially from the Ministry of the Interior, who benefit of huge pensions, and have also leading positions.

This ban was enforced in the past, being imposed by the Emil Boc government. The USL government cancelled it. Incumbent Prime Minister Mihai Tudose (senator at that time) was one of the initiators.

The tax on profit will be cut to 10pc as of January 1, 2018

The decision to cut the tax on profit (corporate tax) to 10% from 16% will be enforced as of January 1, 2018, Tariceanu also said on Monday. The measure is provided by the governing programme for 2017-2020.

Also as of January 1, 2018, the tax burden will be passed from employer to employee, which, according to Tariceanu, will have two positive results: the gross wage increases, which will increase the pension point and the net salary “will increase, not much, but it is important it will grow.”

“The employer’s expenses do not increase in any way,” Tariceanu said.
