The dialogue between PM Nicolae Ciucă and the ION robot, directed

The ION robot based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not yet completed, and the dialogue with Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă was directed in the Government meeting on March 1, admitted Nicu Sebe, the ION team coordinator and the head of AI of Humans AI, the company that coordinates this project, Hotnews reports.

The clarification of this came as a result of the multiple comments after that moment, since the beginning of the Government meeting on March 1.

The representative of the company that organized the moment of the dialogue of the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciucă, with a mirror on which ION was written, as the interface of a so-called program developed on the basis of artificial intelligence, admitted that the dialogues were recorded in advance and someone played the recordings, but claims that “the system can also make answers, for sure”, writes HotNews.ro.

Neither PM Ciuca, nor another member of the G0verbmebt team said that was not a real moment of AI-human interaction.

The ION virtual advisor received, in the first week after its launch, half a million messages and tags from Romanians. Education, improving the public health system and conditions for people with disabilities or the elderly – the main themes.

In addition to the need to improve the education and health systems in Romania, citizens expressed concern about low salaries and pensions, in the context of inflation and rising prices, both for food and for medicines and medical services, it is stated in a press release from the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization. Regarding the living conditions in the big cities, Romanians sent numerous specific messages related to the way of public domain administration, expressing their desire for more parks and green spaces, bicycle paths, but also for streamlining the traffic in the big cities, the first places for feedback are Bucharest, Brașov and Ploiesti. In addition to these priority needs, the protection of the environment, forests, waste management and the fight against corruption completed the list of topics addressed by Romanians in their interaction with ION.

The ION virtual advisor had, 10 days after its launch, over 1 million visits to the website, over half a million messages. Also, nearly 1,000 people applied to join the ION research or volunteer team: international Olympians, Romanian students at Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, and top technology faculties in Romania. Dozens of private companies want to get involved in the project (Romanian and foreign), support ION’s development, provide it with computing power, and almost 10,000 people voted for ION to come to their city. At the moment, Bucharest is in first place, followed by Iași, Cluj and Timișoara.

ION was also involved in a scandal after the team behind it had been accused of using a photo in a video clip belonging to a school in Ciugud commune.
