The government wants to support companies like Dacia and Ford in public procurement

The government wants to finalize in the next two weeks the set of rules by which the “Green Criterion” will be applied in all public tenders.

According to the prime minister Marcel Ciolacu, this will be one of the most important steps taken to support all companies that produce in the country.

“It is the most powerful tool to support Romanian companies, using a European principle: additional points for companies with the shortest transport route, which pollute the least. The closer you have the factory to the customer, the more advantageous you are! We want all Romanian companies, from the automotive industry, with Dacia and Ford, to construction materials and the agri-food industry to benefit from the application of this criterion,” said the prime minister.
The Prime Minister declared a day ago, while visiting the Dacia factory in Mioveni, that the green criterion was introduced in the legislation for new purchases made by the central and local public authorities, which could give an advantage in tenders to car manufacturers that have production platforms in Romania, respectively Ford and Dacia/Renault.
“The green criterion was introduced on new purchases, which also exists in Germany and other EU states. In other words, the closer the factory is to the person who wants to purchase the car from the central or local public administration if it is produced in Craiova or Mioveni, the closer it is, and then it has a higher score. The same system is in any state that wants to protect its economy,” said Ciolacu.
The PM added that this argument should also be used in the Rabla program. I don’t agree to give another 10,000 euros to get an electric car of 200,000 dollars or euros. I prefer the Rabla program to use cars produced in Romania, priority is normally given to those with the green criteria, and I think that at this moment we are entering a normality,” he argued.
